Road work acomin' to South Lincoln
Old Sudbury Road,Lexington Road and Lincoln Road (south of Rte. 117), are scheduled to be resurfaced in the next few weeks. The specific schedule is dependent upon the weather and the availability of the contractor.  However, work is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 29th. The sequence of work will be Old Sudbury, then Lincoln Road, followed by Lexington Road.

Electronic sign boards will be in place to inform residents and commuters when work is in progress on a particular roadway. Police Officers will also be assigned to help direct traffic and to help the residents of the affected road enter and exit their homes. At no point will you be unable to access or enter your property, although circumstances will, on occasion, require that one lane be closed.

The contractor is scheduled to complete the project by May 10th. Residents with any questions or concerns should contact: Vinnie DeAmicis, Highway Superintendent, Lincoln Highway Department, phone: 781-259-8999, e-mail: DeAmicisV@Lincolntown.org

Having served her two-year term as chairperson of the finance committee, Mary Cancian has turned over the reins of the town's financial watchdog committee to veteran members Susan Brooks and Paul Giese. Cancian cited the increased work load resulting from the recent school budget crisis and the state's worsening fiscal crisis as reasons for splitting the duties of the chairperson among two people.

Buck Creel elected new chair of ZBA
It was after two long hearings, one on the Cambridge Trust building, the other having to do with a contractor keeping his construction equipment on his residential property.  It was after an executive session, and it was after 11 pm.  But when the subject finally came up at last Tuesday's (4/9) Zoning Board of Appeals meeting, Peter Guldberg told his colleagues that he didn't want to be chairman again.  Whereupon, the committee unanimously elected Buck Creel to be the new chairman.

When the bids were opened, Eastern Construction of Woburn had submitted the lowest bid for the construction of the new high school.  The winning bid was $52.167 million, $1.02 million lower than the next lowest bid and 7% below the projected cost.  Eastern Construction is already familiar to Sudbury education officials.  They recently built the Curtis Middle School in Sudbury.
