Ad hoc appointment group puts off K-8 task force appointments

Agreeing among themselves that an abundance of excellent candidates had applied to serve on the K-8 Public School Task Force, the ad hoc Task Force Formation Committee (comprising the moderator and the finance committee, school committee and board of selectmen chairmen) decided to defer appointing members until after the first of the year.  Formation committee members noted that not all potential candidates had been able to interview at the two previous meetings. They also acknowledged that they still had a large amount of documentation to read and consider, and expressed concerns about making a rushed decision.   They agreed to meet again on January 3rd at 7:30 am to complete the interview process and make the appointments.

The formation committee is leaning towards appointing seven members plus a school committee liaison member to the task force and has scheduled the task force's first meeting for January 10th at 8 pm.

K-8 Public School Task Force list up to 41 candidates; interviews to begin tonight

Some have already declined the invitation, but the first group of those interested in serving on the K-8 Public School Task Force will interview with the ad hoc Task Force Formation Committee tonight (12/13), beginning at 7 pm in Town Offices. Former selectman Roz Delori and Elizabeth Thompson have withdrawn their names from consideration and many others on the list are still to be heard from. More letters of invitation went out on Monday.  Further interviews are scheduled for next Tuesday (12/18), beginning at 5 pm.
