DeCordova plans to move driveway
Consultants for the DeCordova Museum explained their plans for relocating the driveway to the conservation commission at last night's (5/15) public hearing. Their plan calls for relocating the driveway within the Decordova property by looping it around the edge of the property to the existing parking lot, while leaving the entrance off of Sandy Pond Road where it is.  Conscom had expressed concern during an April preliminary meeting about allowing construction within fifty feet of a wetlands area and the public hearing was scheduled to discuss the issue.

Pow-wow called on N. Lincoln property
Selectman Penny Billings explained to a group of concerned North Lincoln residents at last night's (5/13) selectmen's meeting, that the auction by the state of the Sunnyside Lane properties has been delayed from early June to later in the summer.  This will give the town some breathing room as it figures out how to respond to the pending sale.  Options under consideration include the RLF buying the land for conservation or development, the neighbors buying the land for conservation or development, the town buying the land for conservation or development, or the national park (Minuteman National Park) acquiring the land.  In order to sort through these options, the selectmen will hold a "roundtable meeting" on Tuesday, June 4th, 7:30 pm in Town Offices.  All potential stakeholders (and interested parties) are invited to attend.

Speed tables put on hold
The plan to put two speed tables on Lincoln and Bedford Roads has been put on hold by the selectmen.  One was to be placed in front of the Old Town Hall, the other in front of Bemis Hall.  They were meant to serve as crosswalks, and to  slow traffic along those two busy roads.  However, lacking traffic count studies and a full understanding of the impacts, the selectmen decided against having the DPW construct them next week. The new plan is to have the town's traffic consultant study the matter further.

Two semi-finalists selected for fire chief position
The selectmen will interview, at their May 20 meeting, the two remaining candidates to replace Fire Chief Rick Goddard, who retired earlier this year.  Of the more than twenty individuals who applied, eight (including two Lincoln firefighters) were selected as semi-finalists.  After the screening committee interviewed them all, Chief John Burke of Sherborn and Chief Kevin Partridge of Berkley were selected as finalists.

School committee picks new superintendent
The search committee tasked with reviewing the field of potential candidates narrowed it down to just over ten qualified professionals. That was then reduced to three semi-finalists. Then two school committee members, along with an entourage, made site visits to the school systems of the two finalists.  Last night (5/8), the Lincoln School Committee voted unanimously to offer the superintendent's position to Dr. Michael F. Brandmeyer, currently Assistant Superintendent of Shrewsbury's K-12 school system. At the conclusion of the meeting school committee members called Dr. Brandmeyer to offer him the position, which he accepted on the spot.
