Second school committee member resigns
Mark Masterson resigned from the school committee last night (5/15) effective July 1.  Masterson had become superintendent of the Maynard school system, and found over the past year that his job requirements made serving on the school committee extremely difficult. Applicants for the two vacant positions will be screened on June 19th in a joint selectmen/school committee meeting.

Fire Department puts out big brush fire

April 17 - The Lincoln Fire Department responded yesterday to a permit fire that was out of control.  When the on-duty crew arrived approximately 1/2 acre of wooded area behind the house at 180 Weston Road was burning out of control. The fire began to travel toward two homes on Laurel Drive.

Luckily, the fire was completely extinguished and all units cleared the scene after about two hours.  Crews from Weston and Concord assisted the Lincoln Fire Department at the scene and by providing station coverage.  A total of about 2 acres were burned, there was no damage to any buildings thanks to the quick work of the firefighters.

The Lincoln Fire Department would like to remind residents to use extra caution while burning brush.  The recent weather pattern has been one of high winds and low relative humidity, this provides for conditions that will quickly allow a permit fire to become and out of control wildland fire.
