The Board of Assessors is responsible for assessing the value of all real and personal property in town and computing the tax rate by dividing the total taxable property in town by the amount the town needs to raise in taxes that year.  The Assessors conduct periodic inspections of all real estate in town with assessments calculated as of January 1.  Valuations are adjusted annually according to changes in sales prices.  Tax bills are issued twice a year and usually due May 1 and November 1.
