Appointed by the moderator, this seven-person board recommends a balanced budget for Town
Meeting approval and serves as the town's fiscal watchdog. It also:
1. monitors the finances of town boards, with each member serving as liaison
to several boards.
2. works with the town finance director to project revenues and expenses as
accurately as possible.
3. negotiates budget proposals with boards and committees.
4. reviews and evaluates capital requests, together with the Capital Planning
Committee.
5. produces a balanced annual operating budget, to voted at Town Meeting.
6. makes recommendations on the use of the towns "free cash."
7. approves or disapproves requests for reserve fund transfers.
