The Minuteman Library Network includes the library holdings of The Lincoln Library as well
as those of 33 surrounding towns and 4 academic libraries.
Welcome to the Library
The Lincoln Public Library welcomes readers of all ages to enjoy its collection
of more than 80,000 items. The library's collection includes books, magazines, compact
discs, books-on-tape and videos.
As a member of the Minuteman Library Network, the Lincoln Public Library provides its
patrons with access to the nearly 2 million items owned by the thirty-seven network member
libraries.
Library service to children, parents, caregivers, and
teachers continues to be an important element of the library's overall service plan. Story
hours, book talks, craft programs, and special events are presented throughout the year.
In addition to providing an outstanding selection of new fiction and non-fiction, the
Lincoln Public Library also offers a full-range of reference services, an on-line index to
periodicals and to community resources and organizations, and both text-based and graphic
Internet access for the public through the Minuteman Library Network. In the coming year
the library will explore options for expanding public access to the Internet. Photocopying
and fax service (both sending and receiving ) are available at a nominal fee.
Upcoming programs and events are listed in the library's brochure, mailed to all Lincoln
homes three times each year.

Book Sale
The Friends' monthly (except January) book sale, in one of the Hartwell Pods
at the Lincoln Public School complex, is an ongoing fund-raiser.
The Book Sale is becoming Big Business! We are averaging $450 every sale, with one
exciting Saturday when we actually took in $800.
People seem to know about us now: that the sale is held THE SECOND SATURDAY IN EVERY MONTH
(except January), that they can leave donations of books outside the Friend's room at
Bemis Hall any weekday when the building is open, and that they can find bargains galore!!
Each Wednesday afternoon, we Book Sale Ladies can be found, usually hip-deep in cartons
and bags of books, sorting and boxing the generous donations of the week. Often, a second
day is necessary to move all the books into the sorting room, for they overflow into the
hall.
Our Book Sale crew of Friends has also grown. We used to get along with three or four of
us to sort on Wednesdays and, with the help of six or so more volunteers, set up and run
the sale. This year there are sometimes as many as nine of us sorting once a week, and
another dozen people setting up tables and carrying books into the front hall for the
sale, and yet another six or eight helping at the sale itself. We are most grateful to
these strong and willing volunteers! The Library is grateful, too. For the Book Sale
helps to support the Xerox machine, computers, special programs for children, and meetings
for adults.
