One of Lincoln's busiest departments, the Recreation Department employs one full-time director and a full-time assistant to manage the town's recreational programs and facilities.   The committee maintains and coordinates the use of town playing fields and the six clay tennis courts at the school complex, maintains and operates the Codman Pool, runs the Summer Day Camp program for children in K-8, operates recreation programs at the school and other town facilities and organizes activities and outings at other sites.

The wide variety of recreational programs for town residents, toddlers through adults, is advertised in seasonal flyers mailed to each household.  In addition to summer camp, the Recreation Department programs include sports and fitness lessons, school dances, ski trips and lessons, youth basketball and a Winter Carnival.
