Members of the Board of Selectmen are the executive officers of the
Town. The three-member board, elected for staggered three-year terms, is charged
with the general direction and management of the property and affairs of the Town.
Their powers and duties include hiring and supervising of all Town employees (except
school and library personnel), calling for and preparing the Warrant for Town Meeting,
presenting Town administration sponsored articles to the meeting, issuing certain licenses
and permits, enforcing the bylaws and regulation of public ways, coordinating the Town's
participation with regional groups working on regional issues and exercising broad
appointive powers.
