This seven-person, Selectmen-appointed board meets as needed to hear petitions for special permits or variances from the terms of the Zoning Bylaw.  The board also hears petitions from those unable to obtain either a permit or enforcement action from the Building Inspector, as well as appeals of actions taken by the Building Inspector.

Lincoln adopted its first zoning bylaw in 1929.  Most of Lincoln is classified for single-family residential use (R-1).  In 1929, the minimum residential lot size was 10,000 square feet.  In 1936, this changed to 40,000 sf and, in 1955, it was changed again to the current "two acre" or 80,000 sf minimum.  Copies of the Zoning Bylaw and the Zoning Map may be obtained from the Town Offices.

Current ZBA regular members:  Pamela Green, Anna Hardman, John Kimball
Associate members:  Giles Browne, Dwight Quayle, Joseph Robbat
